Revenge

by Stacey Sharpe, Canandaigua, NY, USA

Hubby and I are standing in the kitchen doing dishes. Next to me is a nice clean dishtowel laid out to place dishes on to dry. Up jumps Mr. Bob onto the counter and stands at the edge of the clean dishtowel. Mr. Bob looks at the dishtowel with a gleam in his eye. I look him squarely in the eye and say "No Mr. Bob! Do not lay on that dishtowel, it is for clean dishes, not cat fur!". I then walk over to the other side of the kitchen and hubby takes my spot at the sink. I glance over and see Mr. Bob place one paw on the dishtowel and then look at hubby. Hubby reacts instantly by blowing on Mr. Bob's face until he retreats. Mr. Bob jumps off the counter and with a very annoyed look in hubby's direction, stalks away.

I say to hubby.. "I just told him nicely not to get on the towel and then you get all nasty about it. You are going to pay for that, you know!". Hubby replies that Mr. Bob did not respond to my niceties thus he took matters into his own hands.

A couple hours later, I walk into kitchen to check on laundry. Hubby is in the living room playing a video game. I say "Dear, I want you to pause that and come see YOUR cat." Hubby pauses game and comes into kitchen to see Mr. Bob stretched out and snoozing happily on the used-to-be-clean dishtowel (we never really did do those dishes). Hubby says "Mr. Bob!!".. Mr. Bob looks at hubby, blinks then goes back to sleep.

Revenge is sweet.
