Nynex' Revenge

by Joanne Macek, Rochester, NY, USA

After Tinsel tattled on Nynex, I'm convinced he got his revenge. It was a particularly lazy day. Hubby (Adam) and I were being slugs on the couch and hadn't even gone outside to get the mail. We hadn't seen Tinsel in a while, which is kind of unusual because she likes to be in the same room as us most of the time. But, we didn't think much of it, sometimes she likes to take a nap in the office.

Our friend that was living with us, Rich, came in through the front door carrying a big fluff ball. "Is this your cat?" he asked. Adam and I sat there with our mouths wide open. HOW did she get out? Tinsel never really even expressed much interest in going outside.

We walked around the house looking for ways she could have gotten out. We finally went up into Rich's room (on the second floor) and found that the screen was COMPLETELY out of the window and laying on the grass below. Tinsel had fallen out of a second story window! I immediately went into overprotective parent overdrive. Oh my god, is Mommy's baby ok? Does anything hurt? I gave her a complete once over and looked for signs of pain on her litte kitty face when I moved her paws around. She was fine.

I'm still rather upset about the situation. We live on a pretty busy road and Tinsel isn't used to being outside. She could have VERY easily gotten lost. PLUS, being the "most beautiful kitty in the whole wide world" (we tell her that CONSTANTLY) she could have been kitty-napped!

Then I got to thinking. Nynex had been laying next to us with a look on his face that said, "Tinsel who?" Tinsel had gone to all this trouble to tell us that Nynex had busted out of the house. Nynex couldn't have cared less. What do I REALLY think happened? I think Nynex pushed her.
