Laser Pointer

by David Yehudah, Bellflower, CA, USA

I just found an old toy that hasn't been used for a while, and never with these critters: a laser pointer. I installed new batteries (Well, nearly new. I "borrowed" them from the tv remote. Hope I remember to put them back before Patty gets home.) and went hunting for cats. I'd like to add I never let it hit their eyes.

Cherokee took one look and went bonkers. Absolutely nuts. Sam and Pussy came trotting in to see what was going on, and in about three seconds I had three cats scrambling, tumbling, and jumping around. Incrediburgable.

Toby took one look at all the tails flashing around and jumped right square in the middle, biting every tail that he could reach, one after another. He was in puppy heaven. They were all snarling, yapping, and screeching, and Mac stood back and barked at the lot of them.

The fun part was when I moved the light up the wall until it was just out of reach. Cherokee grabbed Toby and planted him against the wall, whereupon all three cats used him for the base of a feline ladder, with Cherokee standing on Toby, Samantha perched on top of Cherokee, and Pussy at the very top s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g for all she was worth, trying to reach that elusive dot--you can believe as much of that as you want; I have been accused many times of possessing more mendacity than veracity, so I am not going to insist on absolute credence, just minds open to alternative realities. :-)

Whatever, the critters all had a fine time, although at the moment they resemble the end of a good frat party, completely exhausted but still smiling.
