Monitor Kitty

With the 6 inches of snow we ended up with, we got a lot of visitors to the bird feeders. This should be no problem, as Tanada loves to watch the birdies. She usually watches from QC's nest. QC could care less what's outside the window, she loves her nest because its nice and soft and furry. Tanada only sits in QC's nest when the birds are out and dining. QC loves to sleep in her nest in the mornings. See the conflict?

QC was sleeping peacefully ignoring the 50+ birds dining outside, when Tanada decided to check the menu. Tanada jumped into QC's nest and right into the center of QC's obviously present tummy. QC came up out of sleeping donut position in a surge. The cat spat was on. I was sitting at the computer playing Ant Solitaire, when the outbreak occurred less than two feet from my head. I startled and left my chair at 0 to 10 feet in less than a second. I've been caught in jurisdictional wars before, usually over my lap. Tanada slid off the nest and onto my chair, I'd left barely in time.

I recently noticed that when Tanada and QC fight, Tanda hisspits but QC is silent. QC's paws are double the size of Tanda's but Tanda uses more claw. Tanda is the meaner member of the family. The humans claim that we're feline/human twins. I don't disagree with them.

I watched the two of them arguing, while debating when to step in and separate the combatants, when Berfert came in and decided to take a hand. He jumped on my chair, pushing Tanada off and onto the floor. She immediately jumped onto the shredder, ready to do further battle. He turned to QC, thrust his face right into hers and yowled into her nose. QC fell over getting away from him. I think she decided that Berf had lost what few marbles he has. While QC was leaving the area, Berfert looked over at Tanda and bared his teeth in this weird goofy grin. Tanada disappeared, leaving Berfert the undisputed winner. He then looked up at me with this smug, contented grin, sat on my chair and cleaned his paws, as if to say, "Well now, my job is done." I shifted him off of the chair and sat back down, so he jumped on my monitor and watched my game on the screen. Berfert has never sat on my monitor before. Do you think that he has decided that monitor sitting is his reward for a job well done? What if he gets to be a better Ants Solitaire player than I am? Is Berfert becoming a technocat?
