As you regular readers know, Tanada has her nest on top of Rob's highboy dresser, roughly 6 feet above ground level. She often watches Berfert and QC from her nest and is able to fend off the majority of all comers. Tonight, I was working on paperwork on the computer when I heard a sound like steam escaping. I quickly looked around to see Tanda looking down at something on the floor below her. Further inspection discovered her arch nemesis, QC, staring up at her. QC is a big girl and looked bigger with her fur all puffed out and electrical sparks crackling at the ends. QC rarely makes any noise when Tanda hisses at her, just stares back like the model for a Kliban Cat drawing. Tanda is very vocal and makes up for QC's silence.
Tonight, Tanda was hissing, QC was staring, and I was debating whether I should intervene, when I hear the sound of a herd of wild elephants romping down the hall. I looked over in time to see Berfert make his triumphant entrance into the room. QC jumped and dashed into the bathroom as Berfert slid to a halt beside the highboy. Tanda hisspit and launched herself off the highboy in a perfect 10 pt dive to land on Berfert's back. She rode him for the two feet or so that it took for him to slide himself under the bed, scraping her off in the process. Tanda tried to slide under the bed after Berfert, but he was able to slip away before she could get him. The two chased each other for a few minutes, then Tanda came in and climbed up the dresser and up onto the TV where she discovered that her nest had been invaded, by QC.
I'm in the doghouse for laughing at Tanda, QC finally left Tanda's nest after I offered her some pouncies, and Berfert thinks he got off scot free. Considering that Tanda is every bit as vindictive as Dave Yahudah's cat Sasha, I don't think we've heard the last of tonight's battle.
