A full feline valet.....

by Helen Miles, Caterham, Surrey, UK

--------------

My car is disgusting.Very recently, a new bag of kitty litter burst when I was pulling it out of the back seat, and it was only today that I actually got around to doing something about it. Added to which, in the rain, it leaks and so the carpet had started rotting in the boot, (That's the trunk for our transatlantic friends! :-) :-) so it stinks of mould.

After a very pointed your car is filthy and I can smell it from 3 feet away and it stinks from a friend, this morning, (Miss Maizels, you know who you are!!) I decided to do something about it. His Royal Feline Lordship Tiger, decided to help.

Today, it's pouring with rain, but because I need to use the car later, I really needed to do something about cleaning it up. Because the front door to my house needed to stay open so I could use the vacuum, I shut everyone except Tiger in the bedroom, before he and I set to work....

Going outside is a big, big treat for my cats as they are predominately indoor cats who are only allowed out under very close supervision. Tiger positively danced down the drive, as I carried the vacuum, in pouring rain, to the car...

The car door was opened, and he jumped inside and up onto the parcel shelf so that the Royal fur wouldn't get wet. Then I started vacuuming. The cat went crazy! He loved it! Mum was contorting herself into all these weird shapes so that she and the vacuum didn't get wet, and those really picky spots got cleaned. He, meanwhile, sat on the parcel shelf and supervised. Every time the vacuum was switched off, he jumped down onto the spot which had just been cleaned, had a good sniff, examined my handy-work, gave it the stamp of royal feline approval and jumped back on the parcel shelf.

It took us about an hour, and when we had finished, he examined the car thoroughly, jumped out, and bounded back inside the house. All that work has exhausted him. He is crashed out on my bed, dead to the world. He really does make a very good foreman....
