Klutzy Cat

Just wanted to share. When it's only me and Patty, we take our meals at a small drop-leaf table next to the computer. Then when we finish we have to put the leaf back down so we can get by. It's really a tight squeeze, which is why I leave it up until Patty gets by so I can get a hug. Hey, it's better than no excuse at all. :)

Anyway I picked up the dishes and headed for the kitchen. On the way by I slid the bar under the table to let the leaf down. It stayed up. Occasionally this happens; something will get spilled on the table and glue the leaf in place until one of us cleans it. So I went on to the kitchen.

I walked back into the room just in time to see Traveller run across the table. He made it to the point of no return when the leaf collapsed, leaving him frozen in midair for just a second. He got this surprised look on his face in the instant before he headed for the floor. Made me think of the Coyote when the Roadrunner tricks him into sailing off the cliff. First his body falls, then he gets this woebegone look on his face, waves bye-bye, and his head disappears.

Traveller landed on the floor, got this "I intended to do that!" look and went sulking off into the living room.

It wouldn't have been so bad; I mean, accidents do happen. But when the leaf hit the table leg it bounced back up and swatted Traveller on the butt as he went by.
